Personal Statement

I am an Academic Hospitalist and Medical Educator interested in enhancing the clinical learning environment to foster a growth mindset and deliberate practice; To create a culture where feedback is sought after and harnessed, rather than feared or ignored. My strategies for accomplishing this involve curricular innovation and faculty development, especially through training faculty to be effective coaches and mentors. Faculty have an important role in establishing culture and influencing trainee behaviors through the hidden curriculum. Thus, it is important to train faculty to role model and cultivate the attributes we hope to develop in our trainees, including humility, empathy, patient-centered commication, and lifelong learning.
